The Gertrude McFarland Scholarship is administered by the Women's Guild in memory of a faithful and loyal member of the church who was actively involved in many parish roles for decades. Miss McFarland worked as a clerk in the College Store selling school supplies. Miss McFarland lived simply on a small salary and saved money. Upon her death in 1968, Miss McFarland willed half of her life savings to the Women's Guild of Christ Episcopal Church. The Guild utilized this bequest to establish a memorial fund to finance annual scholarships for students in Miss McFarland's name.

Preference will be given to communicants of Christ Episcopal Church and then to Johnson County, Missouri, residents who are Episcopalians or Lutherans (ELCA). The scholarship is available for study at a college, university, vocational school, or seminary. Recipients may apply for a second award, but preference will be given to first time applicants. The minimum award will be $300.

Applications are available at the link below. The application deadline is April 1 of the year in which the scholarship will be awarded. Applications may be submitted by US Postal Service to PO Box 3, Warrensburg MO 64093 or by e-mail to ChristChurchWarrensburg@gmail.com.
